Mr. Ngô Văn Chiêu (Ngô Minh Chiêu) is said to have been God's first disciple and the first to worship the Divine Eye, the Caodaist symbol. He should have been ordained as Giáo Tông (Caodaist Supreme Leader), but later he decided to split and formed his sect called Chiếu Minh Tam Thanh Vô Vi.
Why he did so is now so debatable. Some people say he was failed by Satan's challenges while others say he wanted to specialize in meditation or esotericism.
Therefore, the Caodaist Sacerdotal Council always affirms that there have been two Giáo Tông to date: Li Bai, the Divine Giáo Tông and Lê văn Trung, the Acting Giáo Tông.
